Strategic Planning, Priority Setting and General Planning

Our firm provides a wide variety of strategic planning, priority setting, and general planning services that can be tailored to your organization’s specific needs. • Strategic Planning:

  It is essentially the process of determining a municipality’s long-term vision and goals, and developing the action plan for achieving those goals. It is a good method for council and senior management to communicate strategic priorities to staff and citizens, thereby providing direction for internal operating departments to align their service delivery work plans with these corporate priorities. For a SP to be effective it must provide for a collective vision and maximization of resources to make sure the organization and its citizens are communicated action priorities.



• Priority Setting:

  Why establish corporate priorities? Staff needs a clear mandate in order to keep focused on delivering effective services and completing projects. This also allows the organization to maximize its resources and communicate corporate priorities to staff and constituents. Setting goals for your municipality will provide you with an accountable basis to work from and allows for an opportunity to tie goals with the corporate vision. One of the unique deliverables of our program is connecting corporate priorities with the business work cycle which links corporate priorities, department work plans, strategic plans, annual budget process, and annual reporting into one complete business cycle.



• Develop Corporate Business Plan:

  Many organizations are electing to develop a corporate business plan for the duration of council’s term of office. This allows council and staff to set a clear mandate of objectives they wish to accomplish over the term that can be measured as part of the annual reporting mechanism and allows for periodic reporting to the constituents to let them know if the organization is meeting its goals and objectives. We provide for a coordinated effort to establish usable simple documentation to help guide council and staff to keep focused on corporate objectives.



• General Planning Services:

  We provide a long list of general planning services including preparation of Official Community Plans and Zoning Bylaws. We also advise council and staff on development proposals and coordinate and facilitate public consultation processes and liaise with senior government agencies.
